Sad State of Affairs

Final Accounting for the Year:

$11566.43 Account

$11527.38 held in securities =$11,384.88 stocks and $585 options.

This account is down 45% from the first of the Year 2011!

2011
-$9,564.55
-45.26%

Some $ were removed from the account (to fix the roof, replace the freezer, to create this blog on its own web page, etc.  You’ve read the blog over the last year.  All the expenses have been chronicled.  But the fact:  December 31, 2010, the portfolio’s $value=$21,130 and December 30, 2011, the portfolio’s $value=$11, 566.43.

If IRA distribution of $2200 had not occured, portfolio would=

if money distributed was still here $2,200
then $13,766.43
so loss would = -$7,364.55
-34.85%

Still a dismal performance! There were a few bad losses but the worse are the GM options and the JNPR options and the EMC options which all still sit in the account and may not be the loss at expiration in Jan, 2012 that they are at the moment.  The total loss of $ invested in MSFT options accounts for the rest.  Or, at least these account for most of the loss on the year.

This was an expensive Graduate level course at a very expensive school but I have learned!  All the lessons?  probably not.  But, a lot and even more caution.

Most important, once again, MANAGE YOUR LOSES.
